About God:
There is one true God who is the creator and ruler of the universe. He exists in three persons: the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
About Jesus:
Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and is fully God and was fully man when on earth. Jesus died willingly for our sins and He was raised from the dead to be the mediator between God and humanity.
About the Holy Spirit:
The Holy Spirit dwells in every follower of Christ. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, the Christian is empowered to live according to God’s plan.
About the Bible:
The Bible is God's written Word. The process that God used to give us His Word is called inspiration, which means God-breathed. The Word of God is without error and is truth. The Bible is the authority or standard for living our lives according to God's will for us.
About Salvation:
We believe that God so loved the world that he sent his Son to die for us. Through his death and resurrection, Christ defeated sin and death, making our salvation possible. This salvation is by grace (the free gift of God) and is received through faith (trust) in Christ Jesus.
About the Church:
The church is God’s spiritual family—people who follow Jesus. It is not a building. We believe that the church represents Jesus Christ to a world that needs to experience His grace and love.
About Spiritual Growth:
To put it in the simplest of terms…we believe what God tells us through the inspired writers of the Bible. We believe people go through a spiritual growth process when they begin their journey into a relationship with God.
In the “seeker” stage individuals study the Bible to discover God’s plan for their life. Ideally, at this time, they find a church home that adheres to the word of God.
In the “reflection” stage, they realize the sin in their life and their need for salvation. When they are converted to Christ they come to understand that it is through his death on the cross that saves them from their sins.
They then enter the “commitment” stage. From this point forward, their lives are dedicated to following Christ and His example. This is an ongoing journey of growth through studying God’s Word, praying, attending worship and reaching out to others to share their newfound faith.
At the Chillicothe Church of Christ we are people that believe the doctrine of Jesus Christ and the Apostles are important and relevant to us today. However, learning is part of the journey and even those of us who have been Christians for years must change our minds if and when a more complete truth in God’s word is discovered.
We hope and pray you will consider being a part of our church family on this journey that leads to a personal relationship with God.
